Happy New Year!
After a couple of weeks off for Christmas the Conroe Noon Kiwanis is ready to have a fabulous 2020 with a strategy to engage high school youth and adults in our mission to bring hope and inspiration to local youth through activities.
Our first lunch meeting on Wednesday, Jan 8 we heard from Dhelynn McClellan, Outreach Coordinator for The Treehouse Center in Conroe. The Conroe Noon Kiwanis club sponsored gifts for the residents in the shelter and will continue our partnership with their organization and Yes to Youth in 2020.
Dhelynn shared that the girls at The Treehouse Center were so excited! A few of the girls were new residents and weren’t sure they would even have a Christmas. The Kiwanis contribution made a huge impact on the entire house and all the girls had their wish lists complete! Presently there are 16 girls from ages 6-14 residing at the shelter. The Conroe Kiwanis Club will be doing a lunch in the future at The Treehouse Center with potential members and guests included. Watch for updates in our article or on Facebook.
The club will initiate monthly socials to generate additional memberships and outreach in the Conroe area. If you are interested in learning more about our club but cannot attend meetings on Wednesday, this will be another way to stay involved in Kiwanis and make a difference to youth in the Greater Conroe area.
One of our goals in 2020 is to increase student involvement in the Conroe ISD high schools. If you have a student attending the schools or are an educator at one of the high schools and would like to bring a Key Club to your campus, please contact Javier Pena at email@example.com
