Thanksgiving is one time we all stop and reflect on the contributions we have made together in the community beginning at this time last year. We strengthened our relationship with Yes to Youth, Montgomery County Youth Services. This partnership coincides with our mission of changing the world by serving children-one child, one community at a time.

This year the Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club contributed to a Bedding and Sheet Drive for Yes to Youth and their residents at the youth shelter. They are given their own bedding-blankets, sheets, comforter, to have as their own while at the shelter and as they move on to other placements. In their unsettling life, something of their own to help the youth sleep better truly makes a difference.

In May, we awarded 9 scholarships of $1000 each to high school graduating seniors from local schools. What can be more gratifying than to hand out money to help dreams come true? Creek High School Key Club has been very involved with the Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club in collaboration with the City of Conroe. This student-led high school organization has been very helpful volunteering at our major event this year, Kids Day at the Park.

Kids Day at the Park One of our most popular activities held in September. Held on the same day as the Annual Kid Fish hosted by the City of Conroe, is a great partnership to give back to the community with a free event for the family. The Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club was fortunate to have participation by local Conroe Police and Fire Departments, the Montgomery County Hospital District, PHI Air Medical, dog adoptions, and all the inflatables by Fun Jump at the event. It’s a lot of fun for everyone who attends the full day event. Watching the kids smile and play is heartwarming.

The Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club has been serving children in the community since 1952 with enrichment activities designed for learning, growing, dreaming, and succeeding. They are dedicated to helping kids locally around the Greater Conroe area.

It is ALWAYS a good day when you can count your blessings instead of your woes!

Happy Thanksgiving!
