Conroe Courier Sept 14, 2020

Conroe Noon Kiwanis will be holding a Virtual Membership Drive Sept 15th through November 15th. Our luncheons are now meeting on the first and third Wednesday of each month and any potential members are invited to come have lunch on us to find out about the club. As an incentive, any new member will receive free lunch during their first quarter and the opportunity to have their name in the new membership drawing at the end of the drive, November 15th. We seek volunteers from the community to learn all about Kiwanis to share fresh ideas to inspire the youth and children in the Greater Conroe area! Email Javier Pena for more details at jjpena79@gmail.com

No RSVP needed to join us for lunch!

The pandemic has been hard on all of us. Our local businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations-like Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary are feeling the crunch. Nonprofits have been hit especially hard eliminating the fundraisers they depend on annually to sustain their mission.

One of our youth organization partners, Yes to Youth is having a Celebrity Car Wash on September 19th from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Mercedes Benz of The Woodlands with food trucks, music and only $20 to have your vehicle washed. Consider participating as all proceeds benefit the organization.

Children have been out of school since March and some are just now returning to school. This is hard on the youth and they have missed seeing their friends, participating in activities, and not sure what the future brings or when it will change again. This uncertainty may present itself in anxiety, depression, and loss of interest in schoolwork. Yes to Youth serves parents and youth with free crisis counseling services and youth education classes in anger management, coping skills, grief counseling, and parenting classes for teen parents.
