“Serving the Children of the World” is what Kiwanis International does. Last week during #WorldHealthDay all of the World’s Largest Civic Organizations banded together to take action against COVID-19. Kiwanis International, Lions Clubs International, Optimist International, and Rotary International “leveraged the strength of the combined networks of 3.2 million members to provide comfort and hope to those feeling the effects of isolation and fear as together they focus on their collective skills, resources and ideas to support frontline health workers and first responders as they battle this disease and save lives.” There is power in numbers!

“The global effort against COVID-19 depends on actions taken in every country. As people of action, this is our time to connect with each other to offer immediate help to people in need.” – Mark Daniel Maloney, Rotary International President, 2019-2020. Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club is proud to be a part of an organization that responds to a crisis in a timely manner.

On the home front, one of our partnering youth agencies, The Treehouse Center, has 20 young girls ages 5-14 that are in desperate need of appropriate age books, craft supplies, and games to keep them occupied at the shelter for the extended time the county is in quarantine. Anyone able to make a donation of new or gently used books, craft items, and games may email Dhelynn McClellan at dhelynn@thetreehousecenter.org to arrange a pick up.

Say Yes to Youth, Montgomery County Youth Services, another one of our partners, is sponsoring and Beach Towel and Tote Fundraiser. The 40 x 72 large beach towel $40 and the Canvas Tote Bag $55 are embroidered with the YES to YOUTH logo and available on their website: www.SayYestoYouth.org. Pick up is available Monday through Thursday at 8701 New Trails Dr, #118, in The Woodlands.

Due to COVID-19, high school seniors may submit applications for the Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club Scholarship program until May 29. The application is available on our website: www. conroekiwanis.com/scholarships/ and must be printed off and mailed with recommendations from counselors.  Each finalist will receive a $1000 scholarship.
