Yes to Youth, Montgomery County Youth Services is one of our partnering nonprofits Conroe Noon Kiwanis stays connected with in the community to share their vision for youth and families. Penny Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Yes to Youth is a member of the club and is helping us to organize a Bed/Sheet Drive for Bridgeway Emergency Youth Shelter in Conroe.

The shelter is a co-ed home for abused, neglected, homeless and/or runaway kids. Bridgeway provides safe refuge for up to 15 kids between the ages of 10-17 at a time. Each child at Bridgeway has a unique story that led them there, but they all have one thing in common – they are experiencing a major disruption to their life and now find themselves in new surroundings with very little to call their own.

Bridgeway helps new residents feel at home in a new scary unfamiliar place by allowing each youth to pick out new pillows and bedding. This provides a youth an opportunity to make a decision in their life that is now controlled by being in the “system” and shows their individuality. When they leave Bridgeway they are allowed to take their bedding with them to maintain some consistency and familiarity so they can sleep in comfort.

We are asking the community to help us make sure these children can have sweet dreams amid such a troubling time! We are in need of donations of new pillows and bedding to give Bridgeway residents a variety of options to choose from. Colors, prints, and options for both boys and girls is preferred. Soft textures are comforting.

Donations of any of the following is greatly appreciated to help youth in our community. Twin size or standard for boys/girls ages 10-17 is preferred.

• Standard size pillows -hypoallergenic preferred
• Standard size pillowcases – solid colors or coordinating with a bedding set
