Courier July 6

Regrettably since the number of COVID cases in our community has increased we did not have a meeting on Wednesday. We hope to schedule a Zoom meeting in the future and details will be posted to our Facebook page.

All the scholarship applications have been received and in our next article we will announce the seniors that have been chosen to receive awards to advance their education. This program is one as a club we are most proud of as it aligns with our mission to serve the “children” in our community by nurturing and offering support for their future.

Conroe Noon Kiwanis takes small bites to affect our local youth in the community. If we contribute small steps it goes a long way to making a positive impact to changing lives in the big picture. Our community nonprofit partners, Yes to Youth- Montgomery County Youth Services and The Tree house Center, a shelter for girls, is part of the small bites we take as a local club to make the difference. Kiwanis walks alongside children and youth to strengthen their natural curiosity while offering fun projects to keep them engaged. Somewhere in our community a child needs your assistance.

The pandemic has taught us that both the kids and community both need Kiwanis. Now through September 30, 2020 new member fees will be waived. We encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about our club and how we impact youth to follow our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ConroeNoonKiwanis for updates on upcoming meetings or reach out by sending an email to jjpena79@gmail.com.

In addition you can donate to Kiwanis International to help Kiwanians respond to kids’ greatest needs worldwide by following this link: https://bit.ly/3eHTR6K.

We are looking forward to the second half of 2020 that is MUCH BETTER than the first half. We celebrate our nation’s 244th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and stand firm in our beliefs to serve the children and youth with help of individuals in the community sharing their talents. Circumstances do not define destiny. Our community needs people from all backgrounds to join us!

Please learn more on our website at www.ConroeKiwanis.com for updates. We meet at noon weekly on Wednesday at Hacienda Mis Padres, 5104 W. Davis, Conroe.
