Kids Day at the Park was a great success! Combined with the City of Conroe’s Annual Kid Fish, families came out to the park throughout the morning and played, fished, and even adopted dogs from the Conroe Animal Shelter.

“In one hour of the event half the dogs were adopted to new forever homes”, said Javier Pena, President of the Conroe Noon Kiwanis. “Kids loved the inflatables too. There were 3 inflatables and a Rock Wall from Fun Jumps with age appropriate levels of fun and challenges”

Annual Kids Day at the Park started at 11:00am with Key Club students from Caney Creek helping to facilitate supervision for the activities. Conroe Police Department SWAT Team, Conroe Fire Department, PHI Medical Helicopter, and Montgomery County Hospital District Ambulance allowed both kids and adults to climb inside the apparatus, ask questions, and learn more about hands on activities with our Emergency Management Technicians.

Kids were running around the park having fun, laughing, and sharing fishing stories. It was the perfect day for kids to learn and experience new activities in a safe, controlled environment. Kiwanis members embrace the outreach event to share what the club is about-KIDS!

As you see special buys in Wal-Mart, remember to pick up a pillow, bed sheet, blanket, or twin comforter to donate to Yes to Youth. It really makes the youth in the shelter feel valued when they get new bedding as they arrive for their temporary stay. The Bed Sheet Linens drive will continue through the end of the year. It’s the little things that make a significant difference when you are leaving your home or another shelter with everything you own in a garbage sack.

Items can be dropped off at YES to YOUTH counseling offices located at 105 West Lewis Street, Conroe or 8701 New Trails Drive #118, The Woodlands. Call their office for additional information at (936) 756-8682.
