Thanksgiving 2018

As we approach Thanksgiving this week our club reflected on the contributions we have made together in the community beginning at this time last year. Over 500 food baskets were distributed to families in Conroe and surrounding area. Four families of Montgomery County Youth Services (Say Yes to Youth) were provided basic furnishings for a home-beds, furniture, and clothing. This partnership coincides with our mission of changing the world by serving children-one child, one community at a time.

In May, seven scholarships of $1000 each were awarded to high school graduating seniors from local schools. What can be more gratifying than to hand out money to help dreams come true?

At the start of the school year in August we partnered with Caney Creek High School to form a Key Club. This student-led high school organization benefits the community by empowering youth to learn leadership and service. The Key Club will volunteer at the Conroe Christmas Parade as one of their first community projects on December 8.

One of our most popular activities is the Kids Day at the Park in September. This is a partnership with the City of Conroe in collaboration with Kids Fish. The Conroe Noon Kiwanis Club is blessed to have participation by local Conroe Police and Fire Departments, the Montgomery County Hospital District, and PHI Air Medical at the event. The kids always enjoy talking to real heroes and climbing in their apparatus with lights and sirens!

Lastly, recently we were blessed and thankful for our newest Lieutenant Governor to be a club member!

This year we have received more Holiday Food Basket requests than past years. In this season of giving, if you wish to make a difference for a family in need, please consider donating and helping the Conroe Noon Kiwanis club feed a local family this holiday season. Contact our coordinator, Sharon, to donate funds for a family in need at (936) 760-2330 or submit an online request at www.ConroeKiwanis.com Each basket is valued at $85 and donations are appreciated!

It is ALWAYS a good day when you can count your blessings instead of your woes!

Happy Thanksgiving!
